Leadership is about Inspiring Others

Leadership is about building a culture of "givers, not takers," says Jon Slangerup, CEO of American Global Logistics. "While being a manager requires competency across a learned set of skills, leadership is a higher level calling to inspire others by example to deliver discretionary effort," he says.

The definition of inspiration is the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.

Leadership is our vocation. Paid or voluntary, know we are here to serve and transform.

As leaders in the public education arena, we give of our time and talent. Children deserve our best efforts to make decisions that affect their right to an excellent education. We help set the culture. We are the example. We should have the ability to inspire others to positive, effective and sustainable action. In order to build we have to erect a foundation. The building blocks for educational foundations consist of commitment, perseverance, growth mindset, vision, beliefs, goals, relevancy, and objectives.

As we think about being that inspirational leader, we can go about our board service with fidelity and we can experience greater satisfaction as we bring influence and transformation to those children that are being publicly educated.
